Town — Frederick County · about 8 miles from downtown Frederick. New Market publishes no container rule online (the full Town Code is kept at Town Hall), so we ask Town Hall (240-910-6222) before any placement off your own property. Demolitions need a Town demolition permit, and the historic district has its own commission.
Town — Frederick County · about 8 miles from downtown Frederick. We could not read Middletown’s Town Code, so we do not claim a rule. For anything other than your own driveway or lot we ask the Town (301-371-6171) before delivery.
Town — Frederick County · about 6 miles from downtown Frederick. Walkersville Town Code § 69-4 requires a permit from the Burgess and Commissioners before anything that might obstruct a street or sidewalk is placed there, so we go through Town Hall (301-845-4500) first. No Town rule for a container on your own driveway.
Town — Frederick and Carroll counties · about 14 miles from downtown Frederick. Mount Airy Town Code § 96-15 requires written authorization from the Mayor and Council before any obstruction is placed in a Town street ($500 and/or 90 days otherwise). We ask Town Hall (301-829-1424) first; no Town rule for your own driveway.
City — Frederick County · about 14 miles from downtown Frederick. We could not read Brunswick’s code, so we do not claim a rule. For anything other than your own driveway or lot we ask City Hall (301-834-7500) before delivery.
Town — Frederick County · about 15 miles from downtown Frederick. We could not read Thurmont’s streets chapter, so we do not claim a rule; we ask the Town Office (301-271-7313) before any placement off your own property. Building work needs a County building permit and a Town zoning certificate.
Town — Frederick County · about 21 miles from downtown Frederick. Emmitsburg bars objects on its sidewalks without a permit ($50, then $100 a day), and a street closure needs a $25-a-day Town permit with five days’ notice. The form does not mention dumpsters, so we ask the Town Office (301-600-6300) before any street placement.
Town — Frederick County · about 10 miles from downtown Frederick. Myersville publishes no street-placement rule. Its code requires construction and demolition sites to have adequate debris receptacles and keeps sidewalks and curbs clear (§§ 85-15, 85-12; $100, then $150). Dumpster rules in Frederick County
On a private driveway or lot, we have found no City of Frederick or Frederick County rule for a temporary container, though a homeowners association may have one. In the City, the Building and Permits FAQ says anyone placing a dumpster in the street or on a sidewalk during a construction project should contact the Traffic Division of the Engineering Department (301-600-3885); we could not find a published fee, so we make that call before any street placement, and No Parking signs come from the Parking Office (301-600-1429). In the unincorporated county, County Code § 1-15-2(B) makes it unlawful to place any object in a county road or right-of-way (up to $500 and 30 days, each day a separate offence), and the main roads through the villages are state highways, so the container goes on your property. The incorporated towns each have their own position, which is why each town page above states it. In short: Walkersville wants a permit from the Burgess and Commissioners before anything obstructs a street (§ 69-4); Mount Airy wants the Mayor and Council’s written authorization for any obstruction in a Town street (§ 96-15); Emmitsburg bars objects on its sidewalks without a permit and charges $25 a day for a street closure; Myersville requires construction sites to have adequate debris containers; and New Market, Middletown, Brunswick, Thurmont and Woodsboro publish their codes in a form we could not read, so we ask the town office first. Where a place publishes nothing, we say so and keep the container on private property.
